This work is inspired by The Little Black Fish, by Iranian writer Samad Behrangi — the story of a fish who chooses to leave everything it knows and swim against the current of its own kind, toward a life it cannot picture yet. It meets danger along the way, and help too, and grows into itself through both. What happens to it in the end is never said. Only that another, younger fish hears the story and starts to dream the same dream.
Five panels of eco-printed oak leaves carry that journey. The oak leaf moves the same way the Little Black Fish did — against what's expected, carrying its past with it even as it lets go of it. What ties it to where it began doesn't disappear; it loosens, unravels in places, until parts of it are undone completely, because becoming someone new asks that of you.
By the end, the fish itself isn't there anymore. But something of it remains, carried forward in what comes after — a wider stream, a zest of collective exploration, and a beginning that was never really an ending.
