"Heavenly Cancer" Collection

Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of a mass of cells within the human body's ecosystem, disrupting the function of its organs and tissues.

The Tree of Heaven — known in Iran as ar-ar — is a tree whose very name evokes paradise and beauty. Yet in this work, it plays the role of an invader: its uncontrolled spread within the Hyrcanian ecosystem mirrors the destructive logic of cancer, threatening to overwhelm and silence the native species that have defined these ancient forests for millennia.

This work brings together a community of Hyrcanian native trees — velvet maple, Caucasian alder, Persian ironwood, Persian silk tree, Caspian honey locust, Judas tree, linden, field elm, Caucasian zelkova, and chestnut-leaved oak — while a veil of Tree of Heaven stands between the viewer and these native species, severing the connection.

سرطان، رشد مهارنشدنی توده سلولی در اکوسیستم بدن انسان است، که عملکرد اندام و بافت‌های بدن را مختل می‌کند.

درخت بهشتی، نام درختی است که در ایران با نام عرعر شناخته می‌شود. در این اثر، خطر حضور سرطان‌گونه این درخت مقاوم و زیبا در جنگل‌های هیرکانی نمایش داده شده است. رشد مهارنشدنی‌اش، گونه‌های بومی‌ای را که هویت این جنگل‌های کهن را ساخته‌اند تهدید می‌کند — به خاموشی کشاندن صداهایی که هزاران سال در هیرکانی طنین انداخته‌اند.

این اثر، مجموعه‌ای از درختان بومی هیرکانی را در بر می‌گیرد — افرا پلت، سیاه‌ال، انجیلی، شب‌خسب، لیلکی، ارغوان، توسکا ییلاقی، نمدار، اوجا، آزاد، و بلندمازو — در حالی که پرده‌ای از درختان عرعر، ارتباط مخاطب با این گونه‌های بومی را می‌گسلد.
